Mr. Hemant Bharat Ravandale
Hemant Bharat Ravandale is a calligrapher, designer and faculty member of the Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Govt. School of Art, Aurangabad, a Post Diploma in Visualization from Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and a Master of Fine Arts – By Research in Typography from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. He has exhibited his work in various state and national art exhibitions and won several awards in international poster competitions. He has also participated in calligraphy camps, cultural exchange programmes and public art projects to promote Devanagari script and letterforms. His work is characterized by a blend of abstract and expressive calligraphy that creates a visual flow of words and meanings.
Some of Hemant’s notable works include ‘प्रवाह’, a poster design that won the Typography Day 2018 International Poster Competition for the title ‘Beauty, Form and Function in Typography’; ‘उदय’, a poster design that won the Typography Day 2019 International Poster Competition for the title ‘Dance of Typography’; and ‘सुसंवाद’, a letter calligraphy work that won the 17th Cheongju Jikji International Letter Calligraphy Exhibition in Korea. He also designed a selfie point for Marathi Bhasha Vibhag with the content “Majya Martha chi Bolu Kutukey| Pari Amrutatehi Pija Jinke | Aise Akshare Rasike Medween”, which means “I speak my mother tongue with pride. Letters are my life, letters have brought joy to my life, I love to play with letterforms, I love to write letters with different letterforms.
